Maybe this will be the year I start blogging again, but until then…
A below average year for film, I’d say. I’m on the fence about my tendency to put my second choices in parenthesis (these things that are not brackets). I have been doing it less and less, and this year I have to put The Artist in for any/all my second choices… not because I want to, but to point out I know that’s the favorite among the old white folks who pick the winners.
Best Picture – The Help

Best Animated Feature – Puss in Boots -> Rango (seriously? …wow, dissappointing)
Best Director – Martin Scorsese -> The Artist
Best Actor – George Clooney -> The Artist
Best Actress -> Toughest decision… I’ll say Meryl 
Best Supporting Actor – Christopher Plummer
Best Supporting Actress – Octavia Spencer
Best Original Screenplay – Midnight in Paris
Best Adapted Screenplay – The Descendants
Best Original Score – The Artist
Best Original Song – The Muppets
Best Editing – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Best Cinematography – The Tree of Life -> Hugo
Best Art Direction – Hugo
Best Costume Design – Anonymous -> The Artist
Best Makeup – Harry Potter -> The Iron Lady
Best Sound Mixing – Transformers -> Hugo
Best Sound Editing – War Horse -> Hugo
Best Visual Effects – Rise of the Planet of the Apes -> Hugo
